PHCC Grad Kolton Helbert receives Benny Summerlin award

Patrick Henry Community College graduate Kolton Parker Helbert, of Collinsville, is the first recipient of the Benny Summerlin Scholarship award from Martinsville Area Community Foundation (MACF).

Kolton will receive a $1,000 scholarship. He currently attends Virginia Commonwealth University through New College Institute. He's studying criminal justice and plans to pursue a career as a Virginia state trooper.

Kolton is the son of Janice Helbert. He's a 2012 graduate of Bassett High School and graduated this year from PHCC.

He was presented the award on May 30 at the Henry County Administration Building with April Haynes of the Martinsville Area Community Foundation, Deputy County Administrator Dale Wagoner, Robin Summerlin, wife of the late Benny Summerlin, and Janice Helbert.
