The Patrick Henry Community College Foundation now is accepting applications for the Patrick Henry Scholars and Commonwealth Legacy scholarships. The deadline to apply is March 31, 2015.

Applications and information for both scholarships are available on the PHCC Foundation’s Website (www.patrickhenryfoundation.com) as well as the PHCC website’s homepage (www.patrickhenry.edu)

Each year, up to 10 graduates from area high schools are chosen to receive the Patrick Henry Scholars full-tuition scholarship to attend PHCC for up to two academic years. These students are chosen for their superior academic achievement, civic involvement and leadership potential.

Students who have maintained a 3.2 grade point average on a 4.0 scale during high school are encouraged to apply. Patrick Henry Scholars must maintain a 3.2 grade point average and be full-time students (enrolled in at least 12 credit hours) at PHCC. They also will be expected to participate in two extracurricular activities per semester and volunteer for 10 hours per semester.

The Commonwealth Legacy Scholars program is a Virginia Community College System (VCCS)-wide program sponsored by the Foundation for Community College Education. One student from each of the 23 colleges in the VCCS is selected for this merit-based scholarship.

Eligible students are full-time, associate degree-seeking students attending college for the first time who have demonstrated academic excellence during high school as well as a commitment to develop their leadership skills.
